It used to be a tradition of mine to draw the same cliffside cityscape over and over again every year with a few changes of style and a few other improvements. And usually I would draw in a few other people in it too. Now I want to bring it back and why not bring it back as a collab. Yes, you can get to draw yourselves in
Here are a few examples from the past:
This is pretty much the first collab I ever tried hosting, let’s see how this goes and hopefully it all goes according to plan. I’m not expecting much but I do hope we get at least 15 to join.
How to apply with the ever obvious first come, first serve:
> Check the list for any available slots to your choosing, only one slot per participant.
> Send me a note on deviartART (Ellis02) with subject New Years 2019 Collab
Task:
> Download the PSD Template (or JPG for other softwares) that corresponds to which layer is your given slot.
> Simply draw yourself or any of your OC(s) in any style of your choosing in your given slot.
> Send your final art via note with a sta.sh link with your file as either PSD or a transparent PNG (I could even accept FLA or AI too) with filename <number>_<username>_newyears2019.psd
Rules:
> The template size is at 4096x2160, however in most cases where your software/device cannot handle that image size, you can crop a portion of the template and draw from there, just make sure you submit a high resolution image (anything above 1200px will do).
> I will only accept the following file formats: PSD, transparent PNG, AI or even FLA
> Your characters may interact with the environment (eg. hiding behind a bush, leaning against a tree), in which case I expect to receive your work in multiple layers.
> You can share a slot with someone else if you want to collaborate with 2 OCs, but I might recommend asking for 2 slots next to each other when available.
> You can exceed out of the RED BOX when necessary as long as it wouldn't block anyone else
> No NSFW
> Your work will be judged for the sake of quality. Goodluck!
Other Notes:
> The PSD size is at 4k resolution, this is so when downscaled the characters will still look crisp.
> I'm also going to try implementing the same 3D effect shown here
> Assuming you'll put shadows on your characters, the main light source would be coming from the buildings and fireworks (temporarily drawn in blue).
> Though you are given the assigned slots, I may still have to adjust everyone once I compose everything into the final image (especially for people who wishes to share a slot or when there are more empty spaces by the end of the deadline).
